Courtovo

Squash scoring on your watch

Courtovo counts squash as PAR to 11 — the scoring the sport has used officially since 2009 — best of three or best of five.

How squash is scored

Point-a-rally scoring: every rally is a point, whoever wins it. A game goes to 11 and must be won by two, with no ceiling, so 12-10, 13-11 and beyond are ordinary scores. A match is the best of five, or best of three in club play.

The rally winner serves next, so the serve follows the point rather than a rotation.

What Courtovo counts

Best of five and best of three, both to 11 with the two-point margin and no cap.

What it does not count is the old hand-in/hand-out scoring to 9, where only the serving side can score, and that is a decision rather than a gap. Side-out scoring means a rally won is not always a point, which the app's event log deliberately cannot express — and a scorekeeper that records the rallies faithfully while naming the wrong server is worse than one that declines. PAR has been the official scoring for over fifteen years.

It never asks you to change ends, because squash has none to change: both players share one court. That silence is the rule, not a missing feature.

On the wrist

Squash is played facing a wall, not a scoreboard. The watch answers in one glance, and one click of the bezel is one point. See the score screen.
